Year 4 began today.
4 & I have an amazing relationship. I trust the energy of 4 more than any other number. The reason for this dates back to Christmas vacation, 6th grade, when my Uncle Joe made a young, sports-obsessed, 12-yr old tomboy’s dreams come true.
#4 was way more than an athlete. WAY more. I was young but I was aware, on a very high level, how good a human being this man was. It didn’t matter how incredible he was on the court. To me…the energy that far exceeded that of his athleticism and/or fame was his grace…his class…his genuine kindness.
From that day on, 4 replaced 10 as ‘MY’ number and basketball (having only been introduced to me a year prior) all of sudden rivaled soccer & baseball/softball as my always-changing favorite. I had found and met and interacted with my first conscious guidepost for the energy I intended to emulate for my entire life…not just for my athletic life. Of course I didn’t consciously go looking for this experience nor was the reasoning, that I now can so easily see/explain, ‘known’ at that point … I was just a kid. Yet a deep kid for when I experienced it, I just knew … on an intuitive, ‘grown-up’, level … I just knew this was “Truth”.
This was Truth with a capital ‘T’. This energy coming off #4 stood out. It was genuine. It was inspiring. It was ‘big’. Greatness personified in absolute humility. To this day, but beginning 28 years ago, I chose to use #4 throughout my life as a multi-dimensional (existing and having meaning on many layers in my life) representation of what I now term the “It” energy. A combination of awareness, honoring, and channeling of the Light. Looking back now, it is so clear that this was where my standard was set. I was aiming for this energy and I was not going to settle easily for anything less. A high bar … a very high bar in times where the bar was only getting lower. I had some tough lessons ahead to learn but somehow I knew that the energy of #4 would always be there to guide me…remind me…keep my eye on the rim at which I was shooting.
It’s our year #4. It’s our year to just be quiet and work to be the best example possible of health, balance, harmony, peace, and love. That’s it. That’s the business plan for 2016.
Thank you Uncle Joe…and thank you #4…there are absolutely no words for what that bar – that ten minutes playing with you – established within and for me. No words for what that bar has attracted to me in my life the 28 years since that dream-come-true day. Thank you so very much for your example and modeling of the Energy that became the foundation for my life. Unconsciously experiencing this back them but fully understanding the how/why like never before.
