Alternative Healing

Massage StonesTrips into nature, art therapy, volunteering – three areas of healing I think are drastically undervalued as healing modalities.  While on a 22-mile day hike in Glacier National Park, this idea came to me.  I was fresh off my “healing year” in Michigan and days away from arriving in Seattle.  I was happier than ever before and reflecting on all that contributed to helping me heal from the deep pains of my past.  I had the idea of including these along with 9 other categories of healing into an a la carte type alternative healing business where people could come in for consultation and receive a customized therapy plan.  Healers from different backgrounds would work together in treating a client.

It is similar to how a team of middle school teachers usually all have the same students.  Ideally, we were able to talk with one another how best to help struggling students.  In this business, I would contract out the healing work for which I wasn’t qualified (massage, acupuncture, reiki, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, etc) to people I knew and I would focus on the areas with which I had experience & credibility.

The rough title of this business is “Change Your Life…Change the World!  Healing & Expanding Your Mind, Body, and Soul”.  The 12 original categories include the following:  Music, Reading, Film/TV, Exercise, Nutrition, Finances, Psychotherapy/Hypnotherapy/Reiki, Massage, Acupuncture, Community Service, Crafts/Games, and Nature Outings.  I have begun to incorporate parts of this into my company already – i.e. the reading recommendations page.  However, there is much more to come.
