Hi Alyson, I’m not sure if you will remember me, but I’ve never forgotten about you. You had introduced me to Mike with the local Police Department. I just wanted to contact you to let you know how much you’ve impacted my life and my journey since the time we parted ways. I decided after my two ride-a-longs with the police department that that’s where I wanted to work. I applied for two positions and was chosen for both and got to choose which position to work in. I left my old job in May 2005 and have worked for the Police Department since as a 9-1-1 emergency dispatcher. That’s the best choice I made so far. Hi Alyson – Thanks for taking the time to write! It’s great to hear from you and extremely thoughtful since I imagine your have a lot on your plate these days. So I have to say it’s been really motivating to read your blog. Its refreshing that you are so open and honest since I can only imagine the strength it requires to make yourself vulnerable like that. It has given me a lot to think about that im not sure I would have considered otherwise. This most recent post hit home as I continue my struggle trying find a career path to be happy in, proud of (on several levels), and able to maintain long term without major discontent. Its been rough to say the least. Ive landed all over the place from art school to state department to admin asst to stay at home Mom. I feel like I’m at a crossroads again and it was perfect timing to come across your journey to see where you have been and what led you to where you are now (dare i say — happy, healthy and fulfilled!!?) Needless to say I wish you the best with this project and am more than happy to support you in your endeavor!
