Aly(son)

  • Born & raised in Detroit & western suburbs of MI.
  • Athletics took me from MI to FL at 18.
  • My soul took me from FL to WA at 35.
  • International trips to Australia and Japan (12 yrs apart) would prove to be hugely influential on my spiritual journey.
  • My life changed forever when I decided, in an effort to arrive in WA with as much as my past baggage left on the east coast as possible, to take a one year leave from the “real” world.  At 34, I returned home to MI – the hornet’s nest of ALL of my issues – to live for the first time since high school.  Nothing could have prepared me for the incredibly beautiful, amazingly powerful shift I experienced in my life during this year or for the 30 months since.
  • Never quite fitting into the one-career paradigm or the idea of settling for anything in one’s work, my 13-year employment history spans the gamut.  Employers have included:  PricewaterhouseCoopers, The Museum of Science & Industry, The University of South Florida, The Sports Ethics Institute, Chili’s Bar & Grill, St. Anthony’s Hospital, Hillsborough County Schools, Jessica’s Organic Farm, Harvest Cycle (my own company), and most recently, Microsoft.  A work history that serves as the perfect resume for the shifting times in which we live and as such, making me uniquely qualified to be my own business.
  • I’ve been married & divorced.
  • I am the child of the divorce of my parents x 2 (they remarried & divorced again).
  • No kids of my own, however, my 6th grade students served as exceptional surrogates reminding me when I was their teacher and still today that we are all teachers AND students here to learn from one another.  Their beautiful energy most certainly guided me back here…to the pursuit of my dreams.  Thank you Marshall kids!!
  • I’ve been an athlete my entire life and I am so appreciative of the extremely valuable character traits that were honed so young & today serve as the foundational pillars of my living – trust, teamwork, visualization, the ability to focus & learning to be aware & present in the moment of competition, recognizing strengths & weaknesses in my own abilities, the importance of having fun & most notably, love…love of the games and love of my teammates & coaches as we pursued our greatest potential as one unit.  This is the ultimate metaphor for what my company intends to inspire…the recognition that we are ALL one giant unit and rather than focus on the fear of losing the game, instead focus on the love of playing & reaching for our full potential.
